UNION Charity Event 2023
At Falcon 1 CrossFit, we work out for those who can't
As has become a tradition with us, this year the UNION event was held again at Falcon 1 CrossFit. This is our charity event, within which we help disadvantaged children. You can read more about the UNION event on this page.
This year, we met again in large numbers at the joint training, where we, as always, did the MURPH workout. In addition, this year was also special in that we joined forces with our affiliated CrossFit gym in Senec and trained together.
Julka was born in 2009 and after six months of life she was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome. It is a rare genetic disorder with which approximately one in 20,000 healthy children is born. It is manifested by severe mental retardation, delayed neurological development, speech development disorder along with a coordination disorder, and children often suffer from epilepsy and a serious sleep disorder or a swallowing reflex disorder.
Julka cannot walk on her own, but she crawls on all fours. Unfortunately, she suffers from epilepsy and does not speak. In addition, she has severe hypotonia and significant scoliosis, for which she wears a body corset and has had to wear leg braces until now. Julka's development is slowly progressing and her family firmly believes that one day they will be able to communicate with each other at least with the help of pictograms or other alternative communication means.
That is why this year we decided to donate all the collected money to Julka and her family. They will use the money to buy equipment and rehabilitation that help Julka alleviate the symptoms of Angelman syndrome.
We are very happy that we could help Julka at least a little in this way.
